For some people, it might seem strange to talk about energy saving ideas in the middle of summer. When most people think about how to save energy, they’re thinking about things to hold the heat in.

But this is a great time to be checking your home and making changes. Whether you’re in the heart of Clayton Heights or even if you’re on the outskirts of Surrey, our summer temperatures are perfect for working on your home. Here are 5 tips to get you on the energy train to savings:

Start with Your Budget

The purchase of a Clayton home is one of the most important investments you will make. Once you’ve purchased your first home and settled comfortably in it, you may begin to wonder how you can pay your mortgage off faster.

I’ve compiled some quick tips to help you pay off your mortgage quickly and efficiently:

1) Increase Your Payment Frequency. There are several financial institutions with a wide range of payment options for first-time homebuyers. Whatever the plan you select, you can save interest by making more frequent payments on top of your regularly scheduled payments.

2) Increase The Amount Of Your Mortgage Payments. Putting any funds from an increased cash flow towards your mortgage payments can shorten the term of your mortgage.

3)

About Robbie Johal’s Annual Community Garage Sale 2016!

Every summer, Clayton home owners prep their garages and gather their used items to host a garage sale or yard sale and make some extra cash! Now, most homeowners who have ever hosted a Garage Sale will tell you the hardest part is getting exposure. You may have some great items for sale, but if your home doesn’t get enough traffic it won’t sell (sounds a bit like the real estate industry). Well, that’s where the Robbie Johal Annual Community Garage Sale comes in! It’s a massive garage sale in Clayton Heights hosted by homeowners looking to clear out some of their belongings.

Homes that want to participate RSVP to me and I create maps with the locations of homes and their full address. I take

Entrepreneurship Is About More Than Having Good Grades

Since the beginning of my real estate career, I’ve  had the Philosophy that a successful business is established on giving without expecting anything in return. The same applies to the communities in which we live in. I love living and raising my children in Clayton, attending community events, and even adopting a street. So helping families move here or sell their Clayton homes to another family bring me great joy. I hardly see it as work, but more as something I’m happy doing and as a way to give back to my community.

Four years ago I started the Robbie Johal Entrepreneur Scholarship Award. It’s a $1,000 scholarship in partnership with Clayton Heights Secondary School awarded to a Grade 12

Find A Home For Sale in Clayton

The Clayton real estate market is exploding with new residential and business developments. We’ll constantly expanding our borders and growing the number of listings on the market. From Clayton coach homes to Clayton Heights Townhomes, there’s always something new to add to our community. Today I want to talk a little bit about four popular developments in the Clayton area and what makes them unique.

Salix

This was a new condo development which was completed in the Winter of 2013. Salix condos offer one, two, and three bedroom floorplans with two different colour themes. These condos were developed by Woodbridge Homes and can be found in a central location, off the Fraser Highway and 200 street.

Living In Clayton? Head To The Surrey Little Theatre!

Although The City of Surrey inherited many of its cultural activities from metropolitan Vancouver, its cultural scene is as diverse as its residents. Of course, the community of Clayton is no exception to this. Clayton’s arts and culture are nourished through our local artistic and cultural events. One of my favourite places to enjoy local art and theatre is at the Surrey Little Theatre. If you’re looking for a taste of arts in Clayton, or just want a night out with friends and family this is the place to be!

Surrey Little Theatre wrapped up their production of “Becky’s New Car” earlier this month and are gearing up for, “The Drawer Boy,” which is scheduled to run from April 17th to May 17th.

You may not know this if you’re a current resident, but visitors often get mixed up when it comes to Surrey’s wonderful community of Clayton.

“Is it called Clayton Heights, Clayton Hill, East Clayton, or just Clayton?” “Can I buy a newer property here?”

As a real estate agent and current Clayton resident, I feel a strong sense of public responsibility to share my community and area knowledge— in hopes that you’ll make an informed decision when buying or selling. So here it goes…

The original subdivision in the City of Surrey consisted mainly of mature single-family homes and 1 acre real estate properties. This subdivision was known as Clayton Heights and also referred to as Clayton Hill.

Clayton Heights was located east of the community of

One of the things I love about most living in Surrey is that we’re dedicated to reducing waste and keeping unnecessary items out of the landfill. This should come as no surprise, since British Columbia is one of the highest scoring provinces for environmental progress! As residents, we can also do our part to reduce waste and make our Clayton Heights homes greener. Here are some tips to help you make your property more environmentally-friendly:

  1. Wash clothing items in cold water: There’s laundry detergents out there that can get the job done without the use of hot water. By the way, they can also save you money in your utilities bills.
  2. Forget Plastic Bags: Most grocery stores sell reusable bags for as low as a dollar. These bags can be used more

Living in Cloverdale is like living in a city within a city. Filled with year-round community events, a small town ambiance, and nearby amenities, it’s no wonder over 17,000 residents choose to call Cloverdale home! Cloverdale residents include families, retirees, young couples, and people from all walks of life. This lively area continues to have much promise of growth.

In fact, over the past five years, the area has been recognized as the second fastest growing community in Greater Vancouver. Cloverdale was known as the first town centre of the City of Surrey. Since Surrey is located in the Fraser Valley, the area features beautiful scenery and warmer winter climate than other parts of Canada. 184 street marks its eastern boundary while 56 Ave marks

If you are thinking about buying a Surrey home but feel unsure which neighbourhood is the right one, you are not alone. When it comes to real estate it’s all about location, location, location! Although there are lots of great Surrey communities to live in, you should consider some things when making the decision to buy a Surrey home.

  • Nearby schools. If you have children currently in school or are thinking about having kids, finding the right location might depend on the educational institutions available in each Surrey community.
  • Neighbourhood walkability. Do you enjoy taking long walks or being outdoors? If so, cross-check the walkability score of your list of potential communities.
