REALTORS® Giving Back To Our Community

This time of year, it’s very common to see Surrey residents volunteering and spreading Holiday Cheer. Whether you’re working a few hours at the local soup kitchen, or donating toys to less fortunate children, community involvement is an excellent way to give back to those around you.

REALTORS® like Robbie Johal are no exception to this! In addition to connecting people with a property to call home, I also give back to the community in as many ways as I can. Every year, I donate a portion of every transaction to the B.C Children’s Hospital, serve as a Volunteer Coach for a youth t-ball league, sponsor Hazel Grove Elementary Fundraisers, and even participate in community initiatives such as the Adopt A Street Program!

I’m happy to share this year’s REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive was a huge success! The drive ran from November 18th to the 25th in the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver area. Other real estate agents like myself, came together for the 19th consecutive year to gather blankets, bedding, and clothing for homeless residents across Vancouver’s Lower Mainland.

“Way back in 1995, some caring REALTORS® in Vancouver observed the homeless situation in the city’s Eastside and said to themselves, we’ve got to do something. They put out an appeal to their fellow colleagues for warm blankets and coats and collected enough donations to help 3,000 of Vancouver’s homeless in the downtown core. That single act of kindness has blossomed into one of the largest annual collections of warm clothing and blankets, helping homeless people and the working poor in every single community in the Lower Mainland.” – The REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive Story.

This event was hosted by the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board and is B.C’s longest running drive of its kind. Each year, over 30 different charities receive our donations. Since its inception in 1995, the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive has come to the aid of at least 2000,000 residents.

While I think it’s awesome to volunteer during the Holidays, I would love to see this Christmas Spirit spread to all other months of the year. Helping others is a very rewarding feeling, if you’re thinking about getting more involved in and around the Clayton community give volunteering a try. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Oh by the way…I’m never too busy for your referrals!!!
